The most exciting canine spectator sport is Agility. The quick description is a person guiding their dog through an obstacle course as fast as they can go. It pops up on television occasionally on Animal Planet, ESPN, and elsewhere.
AKC Agility is a sporting event that affords owners the opportunity to demonstrate a dog's willingness to work with its handler under a variety of conditions. This results in a better rounded, conditioned dog; demonstrates good training and citizenship, and has excellent spectator appeal. (from: AKC Regulations for Agility Trials)
The first AKC Agility Trial was held in 1994, and it's the fastest growing dog sport in the U.S. Follow this link to the official AKC Obedience site.
